The newest iteration of the Volkswagen Atlas is here! It makes a few changes to freshen up whilst still retaining all the features that have made the Atlas great in the past. “What are those features that make the Atlas great?” we hear you ask. Let us give you the lowdown.
Today, we’ll give you an overview of the 2021 Atlas, from performance specs to standard features. Hopefully it will help you decide if the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas is the new SUV that you’ve been looking for.
There are two available engines for the 2021 Atlas. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pumps our 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The FWD models gets 21-city/24-highway mpg; the AWD ones get 20-city/24-highway mpg. The available 3.6-liter V6 produces 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The V6/FWD pairing gets 17-city/23-highway mpg, while the AWD models get 16-city/22-highway mpg. All models, regardless of engine or drivetrain, have an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The standard infotainment package is quite inclusive. It includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, Bluetooth capability, and an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot. Other standard features include remote keyless entry, heated side mirrors, LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. There are many options available, including leather upholstery, a bigger touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, second-row captain’s chairs, and much more.
Every 2021 Atlas comes with numerous safety features. Standard inclusions are forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and a rearview camera. There are many available driver-assistive options, like adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, hands-free parallel park assist, and a surround-view camera, just to name a few.
