Where to get great burgers in Milwaukee
This may just be the most important list you read this week. Or this month. It’s honestly life changing. For real. Once you’ve had a truly amazing burger, you will gravitate towards that joint for the rest of the time you live there. I’m sure you remember great burger places from your childhood or recall your parents talking about the best joints from their teen years. These places etch into our memories. And that’s why you should never waste time on lame burgers.
Without further ado, here are (some of) the best burger joints in Milwaukee.
Where: Water Street (1247 N Water St); Mayfair (11340 W Burleigh St)
Hours: Daily from 11AM – 10PM
If you’ve spent any time in Milwaukee, then you’ve most likely heard of AJ Bomber’s. For the few that haven’t, AJ’s has some of the best burgers ever. So good that they expanded into Miller Park. So good that they won the Travel Channel’s Food Wars episode they were in. And for those 21 or older kids, they have boozed-up custard shakes.
Where: 830 E Layton Ave
Hours: Tues-Sat from 11AM – 4PM
This is one of those old-school, walk-up, dive burger joints that simply cannot be replicated. The 50s-style neon sign coupled with the tiny storefront really makes this a blast from the past. But don’t worry, the burgers are fresh. Trust us. This will quickly become your new favorite lunch spot.
Stack’d Burger Bar
Where: 170 S 1st St
Hours: Daily from 11:30AM – 9PM
The only thing better than a gourmet burger is building your own gourmet burger. Stack’d has more than a few hand-crafted burgers that are all the rage among the Milwaukee foodie scene. However, being able to choose exactly what goes on your burger makes for some intimate impromptu inventions that cannot be beat.
