The RWD electric motor and 82kWh battery pack produce 201-equivalent horsepower. The AWD electric motor, paired with the same 82kWh battery pack, will pump out 302-equivalent horsepower. The ID.4 with RWD is capable of towing up to 2,700 pounds.
Volkswagen has estimated that the 2021 ID.4 can charge from empty to 100% in about 7.5 hours on a L2 household connection. At a commercial DC fast-charging station, the ID.4 can charge up to 80% in about 38 minutes. Neither the Volkswagen nor the EPA has released officials estimates for the L1 charge speed. The typical 120V household outlet supports L1 charging. A heavy-duty appliance 240V outlet supports L2 charging.
