The 2021 Volkswagen Jetta is very fuel efficient. Both the eight-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmission variants are EPA-estimated at 30-city/40-highway mpg. The performance-oriented 2021 Volkswagen Jetta GLI has similar numbers. The six-speed manual model is EPA-estimated at 25-city/33-highway mpg; the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic variant is EPA-estimated at 25-city/32-highway mpg.
Powertrain Specs
The 2021 Jetta S, SE, R-Line, SEL, and SEL Premium all have a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The engine puts out 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The S and R-Line comes standard with a six-speed manual. The eight-speed automatic is standard on the SE, SEL, and SEL Premium, and available on the S and R-Line. All Jetta models are FWD.
The 2021 Jetta GLI has a bit more power. The GLI S and GLI Autobahn both sport a 2.0-liter turbo-four. It produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. The six-speed manual is standard on both trims. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters is available on both trims as well. As with the regular Jetta, all Jetta GLI models are FWD.
