What Driver Assist Features Does VW Offer?

In today’s world, many vehicles come with standard or optional driver assistance features. These features are designed to give drivers a little more confidence on the road and help to reduce accidents. Volkswagen offers seven available driver assistance features to help drivers feel a little more safe behind the wheel. Curious as to what driver assistance features Volkswagen offers and how they work? Take a look below to find a description on how each available safety feature works.

Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking

The sensors in the front help to monitor traffic and can alert the driver to critical events ahead. If a collision is imminent, autonomous emergency braking can kick in to help brake the car.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Having to get off our cruise control can be a pain but adaptive cruise control helps maintain a preset distance from the car in front of you. If the car in front speeds up or slows down, the sensors detect that change and change your cruise speed accordingly.

Park Assist

Not sure if that available parking spot is quite large enough? Park assist has the ability to judge if a spot is large enough for your Volkswagen. When prompted by you, it will help steer the vehicle into the space. All you have to do is operate the accelerator, brake, and shifter.

Lane Departure Warning

The lane departure warning system is able to sense if you are drifting into another lane without using the turn signal. The system will take action and help steer to keep you in the correct lane.

Blind Spot Monitor

While you are driving, if you attempt to change lanes, the Blind Spot Monitor system can help alert you to other vehicles that may be in your blind spot.

Rear Traffic Alert

This feature is incredibly useful when backing up. The sensors can alert you to vehicles crossing in your path when in reverse and it can even brake for you if needed.

Park Pilot

The park pilot feature has sensors that can help you back out of or drive into a parking spot. Audible signals and the parking system on the display indicate how much space you have behind and in front of the vehicle when parking. If you get too close, an alert sounds as a warning.
