What Driver Assistance Features Does Volkswagen Offer?

As technology and vehicles advance automakers are offering more and more features in their vehicles. Safety is an important issue for many brands and over the years customers have seen an increase in driver assistance features which are designed to help keep passengers and others on the road safer. Overall, Volkswagen offers currently nine driver assistance features which are available on nearly all available models. Front Assist

Included in Front Assist is the available Forward Collision Warning system that helps monitor traffic and can alert you to a potential collision. If a collision is imminent, Autonomous Emergency Braking can help brake the vehicle.

Blind Spot Monitor

While driving, if you attempt to change lanes, the system can help alert you to other vehicles that may be in your blind spot.

Rear Traffic Alert

When reversing, if sensors detect a vehicle crossing your path it will alert you and even brake for you if needed.

Lane Assist

The system can sense if you start to drift into another lane without using the turn signal. Lane Assist can help steer to help keep you in the correct lane as well.

Park Assist

Park Assist can judge whether or not the parking spot is big enough for your vehicle. It will then help steer the vehicle into the space.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The system helps maintain a preset distance from the car in front of you. Sensors detect change in speed and change to follow suit to the vehicle in front.

Park Pilot

The sensors for this system can help you back out of or drive into a parking spot. Audible signals and the optical parking system on the display indicate how much space you have behind and in front when parking.

Area View

The Area View camera system uses multiple cameras to help give you a better view on all sides.

Light Assist

This system helps provide better visibility on dark roads by turning on your high beams at speeds around 37 mph. The camera mounted at the base of the rearview mirror turns high beams on and off as conditions warrant it.
