ID.4 GTX Revealed
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is the high-performance variant of the 2021 ID.4 all-electric crossover SUV which features an advanced torque-vectoring AWD system. Thanks to two electric motors—one above the front axle, one above the rear—the 2021 ID.4 GTX can go from 0-62 mph in just 6.2 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 112 mph. Below, you can find a video of the AWD system in action, showing the 2021 ID.4 GTX effortlessly climbing a 37.5% incline.
Why Electric Vehicle Feel More Responsive
One of the first things that new EV drivers experience is how quick EVs are. When you step on the gas pedal, the acceleration feels immediate. That’s because it is. When you step on the accelerator in a regular gas-powered vehicle, it opens the throttle, which lets more fuel into the engine’s cylinders, which produces more power that then gets sent to the transmission, which then transfers that power to the axle. That’s a long process that loses power in translation. In contrast, when you step on the accelerator in an EV, the computer immediately tells the vehicle to send power straight to the electric motors. The result is instant torque and responsive driving feel.
