Generous Cargo Space
The Corolla is a compact sedan, so cargo space isn’t going to be great. Its trunk is 13.0 cubic feet, with a decently-sized opening and 60/40 folding rear seats. However, there’s a two-level step-up from trunk to folded seat, making storage of long or awkwardly shaped items frustrating. On the other hand, the Jetta has 14.1 cubic foot trunk with a wide opening and generously flat floor. Its folding rear seats create another wide opening that gives you lots of room to maneuver things.
Sneaky Small-Item Storage
Small item storage is also great in the Jetta; the door pockets are large and accommodating, the tray in front of the shifter is generous, and the cupholders are large enough for just about any liquid container. The Corolla doesn’t compare favorably, with small door pockets, a shallow tray, and a limited glovebox.
