Whether you call it the Rabbit or the Golf, there’s few vehicles as iconic and beloved as the popular Volkswagen hatchback. With the new model year out, it’s time to take a look at the newest iteration on a German classic.
Here’s what to expect from the 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTI.
New Performance Hatchback near Milwaukee
The 2020 Golf GTI is crammed full of the features to squeeze out every last drop of performance. It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injected (TDI) four-cylinder engine. The TDI puts out 228 horsepower. The engine is mated either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. It also has available DCC adaptive chassis dampers, VAQ limited-slip locking front differential, and performance brakes. The suspension can be adjusted on the fly between the eco, comfort, normal, sport, and custom modes.
Hatchbacks are great. They’re also surprisingly spacious. Many people consider them to be an alternative to sedans, expecting the numbers to be relatively similar. But that’s not the case. While few people are going to being buying a 2020 Golf GTI for the cargo space, it’s nice to know that you’ll ample room when you need it. How much is does it have? With the rear seats up, it has 22.8 cu-ft. When those seats are down, it opens up to 52.7 cu-ft, which is as much as some crossovers.
The 2020 Golf GTI has a bunch standard features such as the 6.5-inch touchscreen, a USB-C port, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, MirrorLink, an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to four devices simultaneously, and a complimentary five-year subscription to Car-Net® remote services. There are multiple available features like a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button ignition, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, an additional USB port, an eight-speaker premium Fender sound system, and integrated navigation.
