Last year, the Volkswagen Passat got a nice refresh. Its looks were updated, its performance was boosted, and its features were adjusted. All-in-all, it was an excellent update to a reliable vehicle. And now, the newest iteration of the Passat is here.

The 2021 Volkswagen Passat is available in three trims: S, SE, and R-Line. The SEL model from previous years has been dropped, with many of its features getting integrated into the R-Line. Safety Features

The 2021 Passat puts safety first. It has lots of standard driver assistive features. Included on each 2021 Passat are forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, as well as blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic and the newly standard adaptive cruise control. A rearview camera is also standard. Higher trims have a view additional features, such as lane keep assist, parallel park assist, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Connectivity Features

Safety isn’t all the 2021 Passat has going for it. It has its fair share of infotainment tech, too. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Mirror Link, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and HD Radio. A 6.3-inch touchscreen and a USB port are also standard. Available features include Car-Net®, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a Fender premium audio system, and more.

Powertrain Options

The 2021 Volkswagen Passat sports a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces 174 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Every 2021 Passat is FWD. All trims of the 2021 Passat are EPA-estimated at 24-city/36-highway mpg.
